The Festival's original mission was promoting creativity in children. Continuing that theme, the Exchange Club provides a free kite-making workshop on the field. All kite contest events are free and open to all with a homemade kite. The contests include highest angle, largest, smallest, most unusual, strongest pulling, and a 50-yard dash. Many categories have adult and children's divisions, so everyone can join the fun.
