Azzam the American Issues "Legitimate Demands"

Recently As-Sahab Media ("The Cloud"), released a new Al-Qaeda propaganda video featuring Adam Yahiye Gadahn (aka Azzam the American).





As with most As-Sahab releases, the video was released in several different formats and sizes.

High Quality = DivX AVI Format - 124 MB
Medium Quality = Realmedia RM Format - 12.9 MB
Mobile Quality = 3GP Format - 3.18 MB
Low Quality = Realmedia RM Format - 1.98 MB

All four files were zipped using WinRAR and were password protected. The video was subtitled in Arabic while Gadahn spoke directly to the viewer in English.

I attempted to watch the high quality version this evening, only to find that the video wasn't working. After installing DivX, the video was shown in almost movie quality detail.

As far as the content of the video, I feel it is best for me to leave that to the experts. However, I do agree with FBI Assistant Director John Miller on why Al-Qaeda is using Gadahn.

Gadahn begins the video with this statement....

"This is not a call for negotiations. We don’t negotiate with baby killers and war criminals like you. No, these are legitimate demands which must be met."

At the 3 min mark, he even references a recent University of Maryland study...

"And, as confirmed by a new poll of Muslims in four major regional countries conducted by the Center for International Security Studies at the University of Maryland, Muslims continue to support and defend the goals, efforts, and sacrifices of their brothers and sisters, the Mujahideen and continue to demonstrate broad awareness of the evil nature of America and the threat posed by it. "

From the poll data, it would appear that Egypt has a stronger acceptance of Al-Qaeda's goals than the other three nations.
