Hackers Hit London Exchange Website Alert Service

Via Telegraph.co.uk -

The London Stock Exchange is investigating a suspected attack on its website by hackers that has disrupted an alerts service used by more than 14,000 private investors.

The attackers set up hundreds of thousands of erroneous alerts, overloading the LSE website and disrupting the service for legitimate users.

The attack has left the service - which alerts investors when a company in its portfolio makes a stock exchange announcement or when a share price moves outside set parameters - paralysed for almost 48 hours.

Possible connection to the Salman Rushdie issue?

Just a guess, but I would assume that if people are calling for a "end of relationship" with a whole nation..that any person that attempts to damage the money market of said nation might be justified?

Again, there is zero evidence to support this idea...right now.

I wonder if the UK has seen a spike in cyberattacks (defacements, etc) since the Rushdie row started. There are several defacement groups in Iran that might not be too happy with the UK right about now.
