EPIC 2014 - History of the Media & Emergence of Google Grid

In the year 2014 people have access to a breadth and depth of information unimaginable in an earlier age.

Everyone contributes in some way.

Everyone participates to create a living, breathing mediascape. However, the Press, as you know it, has ceased to exist. The Fourth Estate’s fortunes have waned.

20th Century news organizations are an after-thought, a lonely remnant of a not too distant past.

The road to 2014 began in the mid-20th Century.

Or should I say "Emergence of the New Big Brother"....

EPIC 2014 is a flash movie released in November 2004 by Robin Sloan and Matt Thompson with original music by Aaron McLeran. It was based on a presentation they gave at the Poynter Institute in the spring of that year. The movie is 8 minutes long and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike-Non Commercial license. Full transcript in English can be found here.

Reminds me of Gregory Conti's talk from Defcon 14 combined with Roelof Temmingh's talk at CanSecWest 2007. Scary stuff...

They say "Knowledge is power"...but we should question who we are empowering....

Thanks to my friend Jules for shooting that video over to me.
