CastleCops Under DDoS

Via CastleCops.com (Slow Loading) -

At approximately 1:30 AM July 8, 2008 CastleCops Wiki, German site, Hashes, Volunteer Blogs as well as other services were taken offline due to a DDoS in excess of 100 m/s, which was negatively impacting the ISPs other clients. Both the sites are still currently offline while servers are prepared for them at a new location.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. We will have them both back up and operational at the as soon as possible.

Law enforcement has been advised of the situation. We are hopeful the outcome for this attack will be the same or better as the Feb 2007 attack to which Mr. Greg King recently plead guilty. Despite the plea agreement, the sentence of Mr. King is at the courts discretion and will take place this September.

  1. Best of luck!

If it is any consolation, normally a DDos is indicative that you are seriously hurting somebody. Considering the targets of CastleCops - great work!

  2. Agreed. Now that Paul works @ Microsoft...it is even a bigger risk to mess with his site. Beyond the fact that the site has direct connections with federal agencies - due to their work.

The bad guys are risking losing bots and ever increasing their chances of getting caught.

Thus this is proof that Castlecops is hurting them...which is a good sign.
