Musharraf is Running Out of Time, Impeachment Possible

Via BBC -

Pakistan's foreign minister has said President Pervez Musharraf must stand down in the next two days or face impeachment proceedings.

"Musharraf is running out of time", said Shah Mahmood Qureshi, of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) - a major partner in the governing coalition.

Draft charges against the president include violation of the constitution and gross misconduct, officials said.

Mr Musharraf's office has said he will not resign and will defend himself.

The impeachment campaign was launched last week by leaders of the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

A PML-N official said: "There is a long list of charges against him... we will file them, by the latest, by Tuesday."

If Mr Musharraf chooses not to quit, he would be the first president in Pakistan's history to be impeached.

Musharraf have done things that don't much sense in a free nation, this is true...but who is going to take this place?

We may look back in a year...and see him as the lesser of two evils. Only time will tell.

  1. It is incredibly sad to see nation acting in such an absurd way. It is shocking that people are so inept to see who is loyal to their country. Peoples support for devils and their coalition is not only representation of foolishness of the Pakistani nation but it’s deeply saddening for me. Yes, Musharraf has done several things illegal but I still don’t understand how they jeopardize the solidarity of the country. Yes, there is one thing that has hard time flourishing during Musharraf’s regime and that was he prevented the country from people who were raping the whole country since several decades claiming it a democracy. But I guess that people have started liking the lives of slavery to their tribal lords and keep voting for them. It is incredibly grieving to see that people who have hundreds of charges of crime, corruption, money laundry and foolish policies are selected by the people considering them democratic. I think the privileges, rights and freedom that were given to people during military rule are way better than what they had. This includes the freedom of the Media and Journalism. It is astonishing people being called Martyer (Shaheed), when they were supposed to be hanged years ago for their acts that only gave our country poverty hopelessness and debts. My criticism is not to be taken that I am a supporter of Musharraf, but it is extremely grieving to see that nation can’t pick somebody new who can lead the nation to prosperity. If the Pakistanis are too lazy or scared to take actions like then they should not cry for their suffering. These sufferings would be their destiny if they remain coward and brainwashed by the looter who call themselves the torch bearer of democracy.
I guess the problem is not people. It seems that the soil that bore the greatest leader who loved their people more than anything and gave their lives for them have gone barren. I pray to God that He save our country from destruction.
