Gonzales Mishandled Classified Materials

Via AOL News -

The AP reports that prosecutors in the Justice Department's National Security Division declined to bring charges against former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales for mishandling highly classified documents pertaining to the government's wiretapping program and its detainee interrogation methods.

A report issued by the department's Inspector General concluded that "Gonzales mishandled classified materials regarding two highly sensitive compartmented programs." The report says that Gonzales took documents home for "an indeterminate period of time." Justice Department employees who did not have proper clearance viewed the reports.

The incident echoes
a scandal involving former National Security Adviser to Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger. Berger, Clinton's representative to the 9/11 commission, illegally removed copies of confidential documents from the National Archives in his socks. Berger was fined $50,000 and ridiculed mercilessly on talk radio.
