On to the tools...
On Nov. 15th, Mozilla released Thunderbird 2.0.0.9. Check the release notes for all the details but this version fixed two security issues.
On Nov. 15th, Apple released Safari for Windows 3.0.4 Beta. Check the release notes for all the details, but this release fixed several serious security issues.
On Nov 12th, Nikto 2.0 was released. Nikto is an Open Source web server scanner which performs comprehensive tests against web servers for multiple items, including over 3500 potentially dangerous files/CGIs, versions on over 900 servers, and version specific problems on over 250 servers. Scan items and plugins are frequently updated and can be automatically updated (if desired).
On Nov. 9th, Mark Russinovich released the Sysinternals Suite. The Sysinternals Troubleshooting Utilities have been rolled up into a single Suite of tools. This file contains the individual troubleshooting tools and help files. It does not contain non-troubleshooting tools like the BSOD Screen Saver or NotMyFault.
On Nov. 9th, Wine 0.9.49 was released. Wine is a project to allow a PC running a Unix-like operating system and the X Window System to run x86 programs for Microsoft Windows.
On Nov. 8th, The PHP Development team released PHP 5.2.5. This release focuses on improving the stability of the PHP 5.2.x branch with over 60 bug fixes, several of which are security related. Check the release notes for all the details.
On Nov. 8th, GMail drive 1.0.12 was released. GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium. This version fixes the login, and now works with Google Apps accounts (hosted domains) too. However, with the release of Gmail 2.0, it could break again.
On Nov. 8th, QuickTime Alternative v1.95 was released. This version updates the QuickTime components to version 7.3.0.70, thus patching the recent QT security vulnerabilities.
On Nov. 7th, Filezilla 3.0.3 was released. Changes include the following:
- Install some default filters if filters.xml missing in user's settings directory
- Additional fixes for SFTP servers with nonstandard filename encodings
