Moroccan Court Overturns Terrorism Convictions

Via miamiherald.com -

The court acquitted Mohamed Slimani of all charges, said his lawyer, Abdelaziz Nouidi, reached by telephone from the courthouse in Sale, near the capital, Rabat. Last November, Moroccan authorities sentenced Slimani to five years in prison for charges including forming a criminal group.

Two others, Mohamed Ouali and Najib Houssaini, were each given one-year suspended sentences, their lawyer, Hassan Helhoul, said by telephone.

The two had each received three year sentences.

The three were released by U.S. authorities into Moroccan custody in February 2005.
