Wired.com is a great site, but they seem to believe this is new....which just isn't true.
As-Sahab has been releasing high profile videos in multiple formats and file sizes for years. They range from 30MB file to full Divx 500-700MB files. Sometimes they even include their own English subtitles, direct from As-Sahab.
Personally, I have seen several Azzam the American videos released in the 3GP format.
Again, this type of production is normally reserved for the highest of profile videos.
Videos, that I believe, Al-Qaida wants normal everyday Americans to see. They love to see it on prime-time TV. It is propaganda after all.
What good is propaganda if the target audience can't understand it?
In this new Azzam video, Adam destroys his American passport.

In addition, there is a growing tend by As-Sahab to password protect the RAR/ZIP video files. They normally include the password in the forum post with the file links.
I assume the files are password protected to stop the free file hosting providers from knowing what is in the compressed file, thus keeping the download links alive longer.
